It is usually not advisable to try and diet while giving up smoking. Nicotine suppresses your appetite, so when you stop you will probably get hungrier more often. It might find that trying to exercise will-power over your diet and not smoking is just too much.
If you do want to diet while giving up smoking, you may want to carry around healthy snacks with you so you're not hungry and craving cigarettes at the same time.
