Collective quitting

Description

People often quit smoking in clusters. This means that quitting can be contagious: one member of your group tries to give up and slowly other people follow suit. In the UK there is a movement called 'Stoptober'. The idea is that smokers from around the country quit on the 1st October and try to stay off cigarettes for the whole month. It is very successful with many people quitting for good.

How best to use it

If you live in the UK you might want to join in with Stoptober. Similarly if you want to feel part of a large group of people trying to quit, New Year is a popular time to try and give up. Otherwise, you may want to be the first person in your friendship group to stop smoking and lead the way, or else wait for one of your friends to quit and join in.
