A lot of smokers say they relapsed after drinking alcohol. This makes sense, because alcohol lowers inhibitions so it makes having a cigarette a lot easier. Drinking alcohol can also act as a trigger to smoke because so many people drink and smoke at the same time.

It may be wise to avoid drinking alcohol for a few weeks after you quit, until you are over the worst of the withdrawal symptoms. Longer time, you might want to consider changing your drinking pattern
