Allen Carr's Easyway books take a similar approach to his Easyway course. The books focus on changing the way you think about smoking. In short, the idea is to convince you that smoking doesn't help you in any way at all, and once you truly realise this it should be easy to stop.
There hasn't been much research into Allen Carr's Easyway books, however some people do find they help. One issue is that realising smoking does nothing for you may not take away your urges to smoke - so you may need some extra help with these. Allen Carr advises against using Nicotine Replacement Therapy, which is a treatment that has been shown to be very effective. So, although changing how you view smoking is an important part of giving up, remember there are other methods that can bolster your quit attempt.
